Description and Review
Ever wondered why the five fastest motogp riders are European?
It’s because they started early.
Pocket-bikes are miniaturized motorcycles that introduce younger riders to the controls, speeds and experiences of moto gp without the risks.
People buy pocket-bikes for different reasons. They’re not street legal so using them as transport is off-limits. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Mini-moto tracks are cropping up all over the US, offering hi-octane entertainment for children both young and old.
Looking to zip round on a track on a super pocket bike of your own?
The Mototec Super mini-bike is designed for ages 16+ and is one of the fastest electric bikes we’ve reviewed. Here’s our breakdown.
Features
Looks
Brightly colored with a tapered plastic frame, the Super mini bike certainly looks the part. It’s also a lot larger than most pocket-bikes with a 22.5″ seat height and raised handle-bars so you don’t have to be a yogi master to balance on it. There’s front head-lamps for night riding and it supports riders of up to 250llbs.
Engine
This bike is aimed at adults as well as kids. You get 48V of energy, distributed by 4 12V into a 1000W engine. That’s a lot of torque and a lot of power. The top speed is 25mph but what’s more impressive is you lose little speed tackling hills or inclines. Because the engine is electric, there’s no excessive noise either.
Ride
Being positioned higher up than on most mini-bikes seems to stabilise the ride. Unfortunately, it also makes it feel slower than it is. If you’re regularly cruising at the top speeds we’d recommend loosening the handle-bars a bit to make it less responsive. The rear suspension is cushioning and helps to iron out any bumps on the road.
Brakes
If you’re buying this for a child, you’ll want to ensure you’ve got good brakes; especially with all the power on offer. As is standard on these vehicles, the front and rear tires a fitted with disc-brakes. We were impressed with how responsive these brakes were with both operating off a single lever, situated on the handlebars.
Tires
The tires are racing gripped pneumatic and designed for asphalt. They’re only 11″ high which does cause a few issues with balance given your center of gravity is raised. They do deliver a good amount of torque to help you accelerate and stop quickly.
Tech
There’s not a huge amount of tech going on here which is good because you’ll need to keep your eyes on the road. The front headlamp uses LEDS for safe night-riding, there’s a key start ignition as well as a half twist throttle for added safety.
Setup
The bike arrives rearing to go. Having a few household tools is helpful in case you want to adjust your handle-bars or suspension. You’ll also need to attach the front facing panel to the front of the bike. It takes under an hour to complete without needing any expert skills.
Battery life and range
The four individual batteries don’t just provide a serious amount of power, they also deliver in terms of range. A single charge will take you about 23 miles, which is comparable to gas-powered pocket-bikes.
Price
There must be a catch, right? Well, although this bike is priced in the top end of the market you will get a lot more out of it. Riding a 18mph pocket-bike gets boring quickly. Investing more in a faster bike will be a lot more thrilling, plus we have no concerns about the build quality on offer.
Strengths
- Very fast with an excellent amount of torque for climbing hills
- Front and rear shock suspension to maintain a smooth ride
- Suited to larger adults thanks to its high-profile seat and 250llb rider capacity
- Front-lights as well as a horn for getting noticed at the track
- A range that is comparable to a gas-powered engine
Weaknesses
- The price will make it exclusive
- The higher center of gravity does effect balance

so fun and awesome
There are a lot of negative reviews on Amazon for this electric pocket motorcycle. I don’t know how old they are, but has the company improved on their product? Please let me know, because I’m thinking about buying one.
