Hoverboard

SagaPlay F1 Self Balancing Motorized Scooter

We’ve all seen the newscasts showing hover boards on fire, batteries exploding, wires melting. Is this something to really be worried about? No, absolutely not, if you choose a high quality, safety tested product. Unlike the dangerous, substandard models cheaply made overseas, the SagaPlay F1 self-balancing hover board scooter is one of the safest models on the market. The Saga Play F1, made in the United States, has undergone 159 safety tests and received the highest safety rating available. The product is clearly labeled with the UL2272 certification. Additionally, a one year warranty protects you in case something were to go wrong.

Features

The SagaPlay F1 hover board looks like most of the others on the market with a deep foot bed and independently turning wheels, but the F1 is much more than just another hover board.

The F1 motorized, 2 wheeled self balancing board is smaller than some of the other hover boards on the market. This makes it ideal for smaller riders, even though it is rated for up to 220 pounds. The wide, deep deck has two motion sensitive foot pads coated with non-slip, ridged rubber. This provides the rider with a comfortable and safe platform to stand on.

Motion of this hover board is controlled through body movement, using the latest dynamic equilibrium technology. Riding is easy. Shift your weight forward to travel forward and shift your weight onto your heels to travel backwards. Leaning left or right will cause the hover board to turn in that direction.

The SagaPlay F1 has two 250W motors for super power. It travels over an hour on a single charge, travels up to 9 continuous miles, and can climb hills of up to 15 degrees incline. Recharging takes just two hours using the included charging cable.

The F1 is smaller than other hover boards. The board measures just 24 inches long and weighs just 22 pounds. This makes it lightweight enough to carry in a back pack when you need to enter the classroom or office.

The hover board is advertised as being able to travel over grass, mud, dirt, and sand; but we did not find this to be true. Gravel and fine pebbles on the sidewalk caused the unit to come to a stop. Our recommendation is that you ride on smooth, paved surfaces only. The unit is labeled as water resistant, but it is not water proof. If you happen to get caught in a light drizzle, you might be okay. You definitely cannot ride in a downpour and do NOT ride through puddles, as you will fry the motor and battery.

The SagaPlay F1 has 6.5 inch alloy wheels with solid rubber tires. This combination provides traction and stability even when doing tricks and quick turns. LED lights on the underside of the front of the board provide visibility to the rider.

Like any motorized vehicle, safety gear is recommended. A helmet and elbow pads are minimal. Learning to correctly mount and dismount the hover board is important, particularly if you come upon an emergency situation.

Weaknesses

The unit does not travel over all terrains as advertised. The recharging takes a little over 2 hours, but battery life is only one hour. Learning to ride can be tricky. Slight adjustments may have to be made to calibrate the hover board, so you can’t really ride it right out of the box.

Excellent Hoverboard!

The Saga Play F1 hover board is a great model for a student or commuter looking for lightweight, portable transportation. The smaller size and lighter weight also make it suitable for more petite individuals. The motion sensitive foot pads are very responsive to even the slightest body weight shift, so you don’t have to lean way forward or back to move. This can create a bit of a learning curve for somebody new to hover boards. Riders should always wear the appropriate safety gear and learn in a safe environment before venturing into crowded public areas.
