Hoverboards, it seems like everybody has one. These two wheeled, motorized balance boards make it seem like you are floating on air as you travel from place to place. Initially sold as a product for an elite group of people, these self balancing scooters are now available in a wide variety of styles and price ranges. One of the most affordable models on the market today is the iScooter.
The iScooter offers a sleek and sporty look in a hoverboard. Available in many colors, the glossy paint and aluminum wheels give this hoverboard the look of a fine sports car. The iScooter offers riders a steady and smooth ride on sturdy 6.5″ aluminum wheels with rubber tires. Designed for use on smooth surfaces, this hoverboard can handle rough asphalt, but will not perform well in gravel or sand.
The iScooter is propelled by a 350 Watt hub motor powered by a UL approved 36 V rechargeable battery. Unlike previous hoverboard models that presented fire dangers due to overheating, this model has been tested and approved for safe, cool recharging. Supervised recharging is still recommended though. Just don’t plug it in and leave for the day. It only takes a couple of hours. Leaving it plugged in longer could actually shorten the length of the battery.
The iScooter operates like most of the other hoverboards available for purchase. Internal gyroscopic sensors detect shifts in a rider’s movement and control gears that turn the wheels in the necessary direction for movement. It is a very complex system and was first used in Segway devices.
The iScooter has several cool features that make it stand out from the others. There are several paint colors available, and chrome options for that little bit of extra bling. Built in LED headlights provide a safety feature while looking good. Built in Bluetooth speakers allow riders to listen to tunes while zooming down the road.
This scooter is quick, traveling 7.5 mph on flat surfaces. Riding it is fun, but like any hoverboard, there is a learning curve before you hit the streets. You should plan to spend a couple of hours getting a feel for the speed, turning, and acceleration. The gyroscope sensors detect even the most minimal changes in weight. Therefore, the hoverboard is extremely responsive to movement. Extreme changes in body position such as leaning forward, bending to the left or right, or leaning back can lead to drastic changes in the movement of the hoverboard. Unless you have some experience, don’t expect to just pull this thing out of the box and head to the mall. Serious injuries can occur. Spend some time learning to ride safely so you will enjoy hours of fun. Also, keep in mind that the manufacturer recommends riders wear a safety helmet. Knee and elbow pads are optional, but probably wouldn’t hurt to have. The hoverboard is also not recommended for very young children. It is designed for use by teens and adults.back to menu ↑

Speed Travelling at 7.5 mph, the iScooter will get you where you want to go quickly and easily.
Range The iScooter will travel 12 miles on a single charge of just 2-3 hours. This vehicle would be perfect for a short commute to work. You could recharge it during the day under your desk.
Wide deck with nonslip grip pad Even the largest feet will fit comfortably on the wide, ergonomic deck. The black rubber, nonslip pad guarantees you will stay in place.
350 Watt hub motor This strong motor provides plenty of speed and power to the iScooter hoverboard.
Quick recharge with UL approved battery With the iScooter, you don’t have to worry about fire hazards like those earlier, cheaply made hoverboards. This one has been safety tested and approved.
Size The iScooter measures in at 23 inches long and weights 27 pounds. That makes it quite bulky to have to carry upstairs or on the subway.
Wheel size The iScooter wheels measure 6.5″. This limits the functionality a little bit, as you can only travel on really smooth surfaces. Some models do come with larger 10 inch wheels, making them more versatile.
